Alert Description

The qfx-5e image is required to build a Virtual-Chassis system consisting of QFX5110 and QFX5100.  Due to a software defect caused by PR1676220, the qfx-5e (TVP) Junos image can’t be installed on the QFX5100. The PFE (Packet forwarding Engine) will crashing continuously and FPC wouldn’t be seen online in “show chassis fpc” output.

This issue is limited to the QFX5100 platform and below are the impacted releases : 

junos:20.2R3-S7
junos:20.3R3-S6 
junos:20.4R3-S6
junos:21.1R3-S4 
junos:21.3R3-S3 
junos:21.4R3-S2
 

Solution

To mitigate this issue, you can downgrade to a release that is not affected by PR1676220. 

This issue is tracked and fixed by PR1710855 . The following Junos releases will have a fix for this issue through PR#1710855
  • Junos:20.4R3-S7
  • Junos:21.4R3-S3
