Alert Description

PTX10003 may generate a Major Fan Tray Failure even when the fan has not failed. ​

To confirm if the fan has actually failed or not; Please run the CLI command "show chassis fan". If both the Fans in the failed tray are still rotating with 45% rpm to 50% rpm; Then it can be concluded that Fans tray has not failed and it’s a False alarm.

Replacement of the Fan tray in not required if the Fans in the failed Fan Tray in rotating with 45% rpm to 50% rpm ​ .

A router running one of the following Junos Evolved versions may generate a false alarm described above:
  1. 19.1R2-EVO
  2. 19.2R1-EVO
  3. 19.3R1-EVO
  4. 19.3R2-EVO
  5. 19.4X50-EVO
  6. 19.4R1-EVO

Solution

A software fix has been deployed in 19.4R2-EVO. 
If you cannot upgrade the software, a workaround to clear the alarm is to either:
    a. re-seat the fan tray for which the alarm is raised, or
    b. reboot the router.
