MX104 routers utilizes side to side airflow. For units mounted in a cabinet, it is important to secure sufficient clearance around the rack, without any object (e.g. cables) blocking both the inlet and exhaust areas of the router, and to ensure regular inspection of the air filter and its cleanliness. Restricted airflow could result in the Field Replaceable Unit (FRU), especially a Power Supply in slot 0 to not meet Juniper’s quality goal and may result in its shorter life span.
