QFX10008 15.1X53-D30 has a known defect that intermittently occurs. Event scripts executing the "show version" command via rpc may sometimes hang waiting for the rpc to complete, even though the rpc call successfully completed. When hit, the defect may cause various Junos UI related processes, including ‘script’ and ‘mgd’, to hang. If Service Now and AI-Scripts are managing the QRX10008, and this intermittent defect occurs, AI-Scripts will not be able collect information for the event that triggered the script. The incident will not be reported to Service Now. In addition to AI-Scripts, any other uses of RPC (remote procedure calls) to ‘show version’ may trigger this Junos defect. This issue is not seen when the "show version" rpc is executed outside the context of an event scripts. This issue is not observed with other rpc calls run in the context of an event script.
This issue is tracked under PR 1155261 and will be fixed in future Junos releases. It is recommended to NOT use "show version" rpc via event-scripts or AIS until the issue is fixed in Junos.
