This Technial Bulletin is ONLY applicable to EX9200 Platforms.

Juniper Networks recommends Junos Release 13.2R5 for all EX9200 Platforms, due to the critical PRs mentioned below, which are fixed in the 13.2R5 release. It is also recommended to refer to the Junos Release 13.2R5 Release Notes for the EX9200 platforms, for additional fixes in this release.

Juniper Networks recommends Junos Release 13.2R5 for all EX9200 Platforms, due to the critical PRs mentioned below, which are fixed in the 13.2R5 release. It is also recommended to refer to the Junos Release 13.2R5 Release Notes for the EX9200 platforms for additional fixes in this release.


PR 969373 : EX9200 RE Kernel may core
  • When integrated routing and bridging (IRB) interface is configured to carry traffic between the bridge domain and the router network, there might be a problem that for few control packets (such as VRRP advertisement, DHCP renew,...) ending up at IRB for routing, might cause both L3 interface and underlying L2 interface to be set as the IRB interface at the PFE level, due to which kernel would discard the packets, in thus cause the corresponding consequence. In this case, router's VRRP state is in primary state whereas it is expected in backup state. It is also seen in other case kernel might panic when handling above mentioned packets. This issue is fixed in 13.2R4 and 13.2R5
PR 993080 : Traffic impact may be observed changing native VLAN configuration
  • On EX9200 switches or MX platforms, when native VLAN is configured on a Link Aggregation Trunk (LAG) trunk interface, if the native VLAN get changed (e.g. changing the native VLAN ID or disabling native VLAN), packet forwarding engine (PFE) thread timeout and chip errors may be seen such as "fpc0 LUCHIP(1) PPE_5 Errors thread timeout error". Traffic might be affected. This issue is fixed in 13.2R5.

PR 995128 : Traffic may impact due to port miss programming after adding/delete analyzer configuration
  • IFD miss programming may happen after adding/deleting analyzer configuration. This may impact traffic for that IFD/Port. This issue is fixed in 13.2R5
