This article provides the steps to be taken when we see Message log: FPC absent. Nothing to do. This means that the system detected a Flexible PIC Concentrator (FPC) slot, but no physical FPC hardware (line card) is currently installed in that slot. Therefore, the system does not attempt to initialise or configure anything related to that slot.

Below is the log that can be seen in the SRX

Please check the following steps to avoid the messages logs

Physically reseat the FPC in slot 0:

• Power off the device (if possible), remove the FPC, and reinsert it carefully.

Check the power supply status:

• If power isn't properly delivered to slot 0, the FPC will not initialise.
• Use show chassis environment and show chassis alarms.

Swap FPCs (if available):

• Try inserting the same FPC in a different slot to isolate if the problem is with the FPC or the chassis slot.
