Description

When the MSDP/PIM protocol is enabled on Junos and Junos Evolved platforms, a rare memory corruption issue can occur during the update of the MSDP Source Active route. This issue is more likely in highly scaled environments with many multicast routes or sources, especially when MSDP protocols or interfaces flap, or the rpd process is restarted. The memory corruption can affect other rpd protocols to access the affected memory location, causing the rpd process to crash and generate core dumps. Traffic loss will occur until the rpd process restarts automatically.

Symptoms

This issue might be seen if the following conditions are met:

*On all Junos and Junos Evolved platforms

*Enabling PIM /MSDP

*Highly scaled devices with more SA routes
