Description

New firmware is available for the SSD models TS32GMTS400-ACC and TS32GMTS402M-ACC in QFX5200-32C.
This article describes the upgrade procedure using the jfirmware package.
 

Symptoms

SSD model and firmware can be confirmed with the following commands:

root@switch> show vmhost hard-disk-test status disk /dev/sda | match "(Device Model)|(Firmware Version)"

Device Model:     TS32GMTS402M-ACC

Firmware Version: P1225CHA

root@switch> show vmhost hard-disk-test status disk /dev/sdb | match "(Device Model)|(Firmware Version)"

Device Model:     TS32GMTS402M-ACC

Firmware Version: P1225CHA

Solution

  • Firmware version will be updated from P1225CHA to P1225CHX. 
  • Device console access is recommended for the SSD firmware upgrade.
  • root user credentials login is required.

  1. Save a copy of current configuration to a remote system.
    1. Manual - copy the running configuration  /config/juniper.conf.gz  to an external location using ‘ file copy ’  (For automatic backup, refer to:  Overview for Junos > file copy  )
    2. Automatic - for automatic backup, refer to  Backing Up Configurations to an Archive Site

 

  1. Download the SSD device model specific firmware package file to the device and save it in /var/tmp folder.

root@switch% ls -al qfx*

-rwxrwxrwx  1 root  wheel  63551414 Apr 11 14:25 qfx-5x-jfirmware-25.2I-20250331.0.2259.tgz

 

  1. Verify the SSD drive firmware version of the device.

root@switch> show vmhost hard-disk-test status disk /dev/sda | match "(Device Model)|(Firmware Version)"

Device Model:     TS32GMTS402M-ACC

Firmware Version: P1225CHA

root@switch> show vmhost hard-disk-test status disk /dev/sdb | match "(Device Model)|(Firmware Version)"

Device Model:     TS32GMTS402M-ACC

Firmware Version: P1225CHA

 

  1. Upgrade SSD firmware. Below command will upgrade both /dev/sda and /dev/sdb

root@switch> request system firmware upgrade jfirmware ssd file /var/tmp/<SSD jfirmware package>

 

Example:

root@switch> request system firmware upgrade jfirmware ssd file /var/tmp/qfx-5x-jfirmware-25.2I-20250331.0.2259.tgz

Validated qfx-5x-jfirmware-25.2I-20250331.0.2259.tgz

SSD firmware upgrade initiated

SSD upgrade successfull

Please power cycle the device to complete the upgrade

 

  1. Power cycle the device

 

  1. Verify the upgraded SSD drive firmware version
