This article explains about the packet drops on links when we mix the links from MPC10E & MPC7E

You will observe packet drops when you choose links from MPC10E & MPC7E

There will be no error or drop counters incrementing in interface, however some packet will get discarded silently.

We could see the drops only from network analyser tools.

This issue is seen when below conditions are met.

* AE bundle with child links from MPC7E & MPC10E

* ECMP paths to the destination

We have identified this issue and tracked internally under PR1682692.

We have found that the ZT cards uses ucode based hash and Non-ZT cards uses HW hash computation unit. So, hash related inter-op (ZT/non-ZT) problems will arise when matching load balancing decisions must be made on ingress and egress. 

It is not advisable to use ZT and non ZT based cards with symmetric load balancing
