Unknown Fault! 6

Event occurred at: Feb 21 10:02:43

Solution

The "Unknown Fault! 6" error in Junos usually shows up in the VMHOST logs if a system runs into an internal or hardware fault.

This indicates that the system ran into a problem or fault but is not aware of or cannot determine the actual reason and thus is referred to as an "Unknown Fault".

An unknown fault could be due to either a hardware failure (such as a component like a FPC, line card, or power supply) or a software issue (such as an operating system or firmware bug). It might indicate a failure that the system couldn’t fully identify or classify.

To investigate or fix the problem, you should:

  • Check other system logs at the time of the event to look for more clues.
  • Verify the status of hardware parts and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Make sure your firmware and software versions are the latest and look for any associated bugs.
  • If the problem continues or impacts network performance, contact Juniper support.
