Description

This article explains the troubleshooting steps for VDSL card hardware issues.

SKU - SRX-MP-1VDSL2-R

Symptoms

The VDSL card or VDSL MPIM has only two LED indicators, SYNC and TX/RX.

The below table shows the status of these LEDs.

LED

Color

State

Description

SYNC

Green

On

Indicates that the VDSL interface is trained.

Blinking

Indicates training is in progress.

TX/RX

Green

Blinking

Indicates that traffic is passing through.

Off

Indicates that no traffic is passing through.

Solution

Firstly, check if any LEDs are lit.

  • If the LEDs are lit, and there are issues with the card, this may not be a hardware issue, contact JTAC for further technical assistance.
  • If there are no LEDs lit, try reseating the card.

Note:- The Mini-Physical Interface Modules (Mini-PIMs) available are not hot-swappable. You must power off the services gateway before removing or installing Mini-PIMs.

Upon re-seating if the behaviour is still the same, try to add this card to another SRX device to check if it comes up.

Alternatively, add a spare VDSL card to the same SRX to check if it comes up.

  • If the card comes on another SRX or if the spare card shows the same behaviour with the same SRX, the SRX slot is having issues and the complete SRX will be replaced.
  • If the card does NOT come up on another SRX or if the spare card comes up on the same SRX, the card is having issues and ONLY the card will be replaced.

Please contact JTAC for RMA.
