Solution

1) Executed fsck in the backup RE0 shell prompt to recover from any possible file corruption:

root@DUT> start shell user root

root@DUT# fsck

 

 2) Reboot the backup RE0 from master RE1

root@DUT> request system reboot other-routing-engine

Host 0 Boot from alternate media alarm cleared post above steps
