Description

This article explains the error seen on device with the SIB 0 fault alarm and affected SIB and FPC offline by the system to try to recover the condition.

Symptoms

Fabric management error for SIB 0  due to PIO errors and SIB0 offline as part of healing process.

Solution

The alarm "SIB0 Fault due to PIO errors" indicates a problem with the chassis process (chassisd) related to the SIB (Switch Interface Board) PIO (Programmed Input/Output) errors.

In general, PIO errors can be transient hardware errors that may clear on their own. If the error is transient, it might clear after a restart of the affected components.

To resolve the issue, power cycle the device.

  • If the error is transient in nature, power cycling the device will clear it and the FPC should come back up without errors.
  • If error appear again and its a hardware fault then we need to replace the device.
