PEM2 of SRX5800 had failure Alarm and had to be replaced.

SRX Admin wanted to known whether they need to power off the chassis for the PSU replacement.

One of the 4 PSU fails and needs to be replaced.

Halting/Powering off the complete Chassis is not required for the PSU replacement.

Redundant power supplies are hot-removable and hot-insertable on SRX5K platforms.

The power supplies in slots PEM0 and PEM2 form a redundant pair (Zone1), as do the power supplies in slots PEM1 and PEM3 (Zone2).

When two power supplies are installed for a zone, they share the load. If a power supply fails, its redundant power supply assumes the full load of that zone without interruption.

To replace the faulty PSU:

Simply turn off the Dip Switch behind the PSU which will make the PSU Unreachable on the "show chassis power" output.

Pull out the Faulty PSU and Insert the new one.

Turn on the Dip Switch. (show chassis power will show PSU in Present State)

The PSU should come online and start Distributing Load in the Power Zone.
