Description

IGMP packets are not accepted by the dynamic demux interface unless the underlying IFL is configured under IGMP protocol under the following scenario:

  1. The subscriber's dynamic demux interface is created above the IFL without additional VLAN tags.
  2. The dynamic demux interface is configured under 'protocol igmp' knob, e.g. using dynamic profile.

The IGMP packets from the subscriber are silently dropped on PFE (Packet Forwarding Engine) level due to the lack of the rule which forwards IGMP packets to the RE (Routing Engine). If the underlying interface is configured under 'protocol igmp' knob, the required forwarding rule on PFE level is present but such rule will forward any IGMP packets (not only from the subscriber's MAC address) to the RE.

The issue is specific to MPC10 (and to MX304 router which has MPC10 card as FPC).
