This article tells us if we need to unstack devices while upgrading or downgrading Junos code

• There is no need to unstack the devices while upgrading or downgrading firmware in VC setup 
• Issue the request system software add command on the master member. This stages the upgrade on all members
• Issue request system reboot all-members command for the upgrade to take effect on all members
