This article will explain the reason behind the plastic board on the rear side of NGRE on MX and PTX series devices. 

You may notice an additional layer of plastic board on the rear side of Next Generation Routing Engines. The plastic board would be screwed to the rear end of the NGRE. 

This plastic board should not be removed. This is the part of NGRE and should go in chassis as is.

• There were few instances where, inserting the new NGRE caused the few registers on the rear end to break.
• To avoid further damage on the NGREs, prevention step has been taken to add the plastic layer.
