How to add an image to the Security Director Cloud for a device upgrade

Important:

As of Dec 2024 (This behavior may change in later release)

  • Security director Cloud saves the URL you obtain from Juniper downloads page, and uses the same URL to instruct the device to download the file using the URL.
    • This file is not stored in Security Director Cloud
  • URLs from https://support.juniper.net/support/downloads  are valid for 15 minutes
  • Move quickly between updating Security Director with the URL for the software image, and starting the Device upgrade from SD-Cloud! If the link expires you need to remove and re-add the URL
  1. Log in to the Security Director Cloud > Go to SRX > Device Management > Software Images > Click on the add "+" button.
  2. Navigate to Juniper downloads [juniper.net], and get the necessary software image for your managed device and the SHA1 checksum.
  3. Follow the steps to add an image as per the Security Director cloud documentation.
  4. Follow these articles [ Stage an Image | Deploy an Image ] for steps on how to upgrade your managed device using Security Director Cloud.

Common Errors:

  • Junos Device unable to reach the cdn.juniper.net
Job error:  (rpc curl failed failed, reason: curl(7) Couldn't connect to server)
    1. DNS not resolving.  Test from the Junos device using:   ping cdn.juniper.net
    2. Junos Device self originated traffic not able to reach cdn.juniper.net
      • Check that the default routing-instance has a route to cdn.juniper.net
      • Check for intermediate devices blocking the traffic.
