Description

EX2300 is shutting down on its own at regular interval.

Symptoms

Observed over-temp logs on chassisd and abnormal shutdown messages will be seen on messages logs:

{chassis, shutdown-on-re-over-temperature, 0x3 0x36dd9c}
{chassis, overtemp-quick-shutdown, 0x3 0x36ec74}
{thermal-health-check, shutdown-timer, 0x3 0x42c0ec}

From messages:

eventd[13351]: SYSTEM_ABNORMAL_SHUTDOWN: System abnormally shut down
eventd[13351]: SYSTEM_OPERATIONAL: System is operational

Solution

Possible cause of the reset/shutdown of the device could be due to high temperature can be caused by several factors such as running on a single fan tray, transient or permanent fan tray failure, or environmental conditions not being met around the device.

chassis, shutdown-on-re-over-temperature >> Indicates the chassis process shut down the routing platform due to excessive temperature.

> Verify the chassis environment status to check the current temperature.

> Verify the chassis temperature threshold to check whether it is within limit or exceeded the thresholds.
