Description

When trying to register the Paragon test agents using a "Test Agent Registration Credentials" user

If a previous Test agent with identical name was previously registered in Control Center, then unregistered from Test Agent CLI or Control Center REST API, Adding a Test agent with a reused name will fail.

If the same Test agent name is unregistered using the WebUI, this issue does not occur.

/var/log/apache2/netrounds_error.log will contain the error:

Exception: Cannot register test agent TestAgentName: active test agent with the same name already exists.

The test New Test agent will fail to completely activate

Symptoms

Registering a test agent using "Test Agent Registration Credentials" fails

Test agent is partially registered

/var/log/apache2/netrounds_error.log contains the error:

Exception: Cannot register test agent TestAgentName: active test agent with the same name already exists.

Solution

Cause/Trigger

If a TestAgent is unregistered using REST API or Test Agent CLI, The test agent is not removed the same way as when unregistered using the WebUI. This is expected behavior.

This only applies when using "Test Agent Registration Credentials"

Workaround:

Option 1:

Register the the test agent using a Control Center webUI login credential

Option 2:

Modify /etc/netrounds/netrounds.conf to allow "Test Agent Registration Credentials" to replace test agents

Find the line:

REGISTER_ONLY_ALLOW_REPLACE=False

Modify To:

REGISTER_ONLY_ALLOW_REPLACE=True

Note: If REGISTER_ONLY_ALLOW_REPLACE is set to TRUE, and you are using cloud-init on your Test Agents. If you happen to create 2 test agents with identical test Agent Names, and both are running, The 2 test agents will continually replace each other (The IP will change back/forth in the WebUI as they replace each other.
