This article explains the basics of modular and fixed series QFX switches and helps to identify them using Junos filenames.
Modular switches
Some Juniper switches are modular, meaning they consist of a chassis and a series of add-in cards. These add-in cards allow for different numbers and speeds of network interface ports and multiple types of WAN connections.
Example: QFX10008, QFX10016
Fixed-Series switches
The QFX line includes three fixed 2 U switch models, each providing wire-speed packet performance in 10GbE, 40GbE, or 100GbE speeds.
Example: QFX10002-60C, QFX10002-36Q, QFX10002-72Q
