Description

This article describes an issue where configuration commit and commit-check operations take an unusually long time on a device with DHCP traceoptions enabled in the configuration.

The issue was initially observed during a commit-check operation, which returned the following error:

remote commit-configuration failed on re1

Subsequently, the commit-check and commit operations completed successfully but took significantly longer than expected. The issue continued to occur during subsequent configuration commit and commit-check operations.

Symptoms

  • he following error is observed during commit-check:
    remote commit-configuration failed on re1
  • Configuration commit and commit-check operations take an unusually long time.

Solution

Remove the DHCP traceoptions from the configuration and retry the commit-check and commit operations

  • Traceoptions should be enabled only when required for troubleshooting.
  • Avoid enabling traceoptions in high-scale production environments unless necessary, as they may introduce additional processing overhead.
  • If traceoptions are required for further troubleshooting, enable them for a limited duration and disable them once the required logs have been collected.
