This KB addresses the issue where an error is observed while upgrading the QFX switch from version 17.3R3 to 22.4R3.

Following is the error seen -

tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.

/usr/libexec/ui/package: /var/tmp/<file-name>: invalid file

ERROR: No packages added

While upgrading Junos version.

• This error is possible when there is some inconsistency with the JUNOS firmware being used.
• In this case MD5 checksum on the firmware was failing.

Command to check MD5 checksum : 

file checksum md5 <path-to-file>

• As a result the firmware had to be redownloaded and used for upgrade. This helped to resolve the error.
