Description

When both of our LAN interfaces are connected to our switch stack, we're seeing both interfaces as HA active.

Solution

Check output of show device-interface node all summary - if vrrp-active is seen on both nodes, then mist is only showing what SSR is reporting to mist.

An Example below -

=======================================

node0:ge-0-5

========================================

Type: ethernet

Forwarding: true

PCI Address: XXXX:XXXX

MAC Address: XX:XX:XX:XX

Admin Status: up

Operational Status: up

Provisional Status: up

Redundancy Status: vrrp-active

Speed: 1 Gb/s

Duplex: full

========================================

node1:ge-0-5

========================================

Type: ethernet

Forwarding: true

PCI Address: XXXX:XXXX

MAC Address: XX:XX:XX:XX

Admin Status: up

Operational Status: up

Provisional Status: up

Redundancy Status: vrrp-active

Speed: 1 Gb/s

Duplex: full

Below are couple of steps users can take -

User needs to check their switch configuration.

  • Verify in which vlan VRRP announcements are being sent, there needs to be connectivity between the SSR ports on that respective vlan. Please ensure their switch is configured to allow.
  • Validate with pcaps whether node0 is sending these announcements and whether those are arriving at node1.

User should check the HA sync cable between the two nodes to make sure its connected correctly

  • TSI can be reviewed for any interface flaps for example - Intf ge-0-5 (7) operationally down or VRRP backup intf ge-0-5 (7) taken over as primary

User should check the cables between the port and the switch
