Description

I currently have a routing instance (VRF) in Apstra that I need to change the name of, is this possible? If so, how does this get changed.

Symptoms

User wants to change the VRF name  on the device dynamically in a Day-2 operation for their requirement. 

Solution

As of now there is no way to change VRF name on the device dynamically in a Day-2 operation because vrf_name being used as a key in different places. 

Currently the only way is to recreate it. So the VRF renaming will force user to do the below steps 
 

  1. Remove all related objects like VNs, CT
  2. Delete VRF with old name 
  3. Create VRF with new name 
  4. Redo all the removed objects in the new VRF
