This article describes why ESI imbalance anomalies occurred in Apstra and how to resolve it.

Symptoms

The ESI imbalance probe calculate ESI imbalance. It calculates the standard deviation across links for all ESIs in the network. If any are over the specified threshold in the last specified time period, an anomaly is raised. It also calculates percentage of ESIs in each rack in this state. 

Solution



ESI imbalance probe is mainly calculating imbalance between different ESI links using standard deviation. The ESI imbalance anomaly will show when the anomalous value in case threshold values goes above the default value set which is 21 by default. This is expected if traffic is hashed on one of the ESI interface more than other.

If user is getting ESI imbalance anomalies due to traffic deviation between interfaces then user can increase the threshold value to a higher value to get rid of the anomaly.
