The Article provides details to check during the Fan I2C Failure

Symptoms

The device will have alarms "Major FPC 0 Fan I2C Failure" and will log these alarm in log messages continuously

Solution

Kindly check below details ,

 

  1. Check "show chassis hardware and "show chassis environment " to check if Fan is detected and working fine.
  2. Check for the log messages to determine if there are any other logs that started this issue
  3. Physically reseat the Fan module
  4. Kindly check with working spare fan module to see if issue clears 
  5. Since we are seeing I2C errors for fan and even after swapping with working fan ,if issue is not resolved , try to power drain the device once and check if it resolves the issue
