Description

The tunnel shows as down; configuration matches both end; however, kmd-logs shows the negotiation fails due to "Invalid syntax".

Symptoms

On Juniper perspective, a repeated special character means the key will be the information between them. For example:

!aaaa!bbbb!cccc!dddd!

The system will recognize only "aaaa" as preshared key even though you use "" to enter it.

Solution

Use a pre-shared key which does not repeat the special character like this:

!aaaa-bbbb.cccc:dddd
