This article clarifies whether or not you can perform USB format install on Juniper Networks switches using an encrypted USB stick with password.

Symptoms

Customer needs to know if they can use an encrypted USB stick with password to complete the USB format install process on their Juniper switching platforms, since they are not allowed to get in the site with unencrypted USB devices.

Solution

Unfortunately, JTAC lab services do not allow to create encrypted bootable USB devices due to USB usage rules, hence the customer must be advised to test this on their own lab environment.
