Description

This Article explains the steps and solution of the issue "Unable to Establish IPV6 BGP relationship on new EX4300. IPV4 bgp relationships are established" reported by the customer.

Symptoms

From the below topology IPv6 IBGP session from a Switch3 to Route reflecter (RR) device was not established, whereas IPv4 IBGP sessions were formed.

RR------Switch1-----Switch2------Switch3(EX4300)

Solution

- As IPv4 reachability between RR and Switch3 are there with OSPFv2 adjacencies, IPv4 IBGP sessions are established.
-No IPv6 route reachability available between RR and Switch3, so IPv6 IBGP sessions are not established.
-IPv6 reachabilty via OSPFv3, IS-IS or by static route to be done to bring IPv6 BGP sessions.

OSPFv3 configuration: Example: Configuring OSPFv3 for IPv6 | Juniper Networks
ISIS Configuration: Example: Configuring IS-IS Dual Stacking of IPv4 and IPv6 Unicast Addresses | Junos OS | Juniper Networks
