Description

Deployement Details:
  • Two nodes EX4400-48 MP/P VC are deployed as access switches.
  • Junos version on the switches is 22.4R3.25
  • The source and the receiver are connected on the same VC on the same VLAN.

Issue:

  • The switch doesn't forward the multicast packet towards the receiver.
  • The IGMP snooping membership shows the correct groups on the receiver interface.
  • We confirmed that the source sends the multicast packets in the correct group.
  • The packets are forwarded towards the receiver if igmp snooping is disabled.
  • The source of the multicast traffic is mge-1/0/36 and receiver is connected on mge-0/0/39.
  • The behaviour is same for VC and stand-alone switch.
  • Disabled GBP config on the switch and multicast streaming was working fine.

Solution

WORKAROUND:
Disabling the GBP configuration, followed by a VC/PFE reboot fixes multicast. Similarly, enabling the GBP configuration, followed by VC/PFE reboot breaks the multicast streams.
