Description

This article describes the power redundancy in MX960.

Solution

In AC Configuration with Normal Capacity AC Power Supplies:

 - Minimum of three power supplies needed for a fully configured router.

 - All three power supplies share the load evenly.

 - Addition of a fourth power supply provides full power redundancy.

 - If one power supply fails in a redundant configuration, the three remaining power supplies can still provide full power.

In DC Configuration , AC Configuration with High Capacity Power Supplies , High-Capacity Second-Generation AC Power Supplies and High-Voltage Second-Generation Universal (HVAC or HVDC) Power Supplies:

 - Two power supplies are required for a fully configured router.

 - Each power supply supports approximately half of the router's components.

 - Addition of two more power supplies provides full power redundancy.

 - If one power supply fails, the remaining power supplies can provide full power.
