Description

We can see in the MX that it is not responding to the requests that arrive from Cact,  below a capture of packets coming from the public IP of Cacti, where we see that several requests arrive snmp request port 161 to computer,  but none of these requests are answered by the computer (SNMP Response)

Junos: 21.4R3-S2.3

 

No alarms currently active

 

  • All the SNMP, firewall, prefix-list, etc all configuration is correct.
  • When running monitor traffic on the interface facing the SNMP server, we see the GET requests coming in but the router doesn't doesn't reply.
  • The SNMP stats of "show snmp statistics" for GET responses for output will not move, only the inbound GET requests.
  • No errors in the logs or SNMP traceoptions.
  • Apparently happened suddenly with no changes to either the MX or server side.

Solution

Restart the SNMP protocol

 

> restart snmp gracefully
