Description

This article explains how to add custom DHCP option 242 which is required for functionality of VOIP Phones.

Symptoms

+ DHCP option is not being applied to the settings of the VOIP phone.

+ The IP phone is able to get an IP address but the DHCP options configured on SSR is not being applied to the phone.

 

Solution

The custom DHCP option need to be added using the DHCP configuration workflow as mentioned in https://docs.128technology.com/docs/config_dhcp/

While adding custom option 242 , It is required to escape dhcp custom option value with backward slash to treat the entire value string as one field.

 

Navigate to Authority > Router > Node > Device Interface > Network Interface > Address > Host Service DHCP Server > Address Pool > Add Custom Options

 

Add Additional details required for Custom Option 242 , DHCP Option value added should have commas escaped with back slash.
