Unforeseen errors may occur when using third party optics and most third party optics are not supported by Juniper, thus, the importance to use Juniper optics.

Remember that even if the transceiver is qualified by Juniper, it will be tailored specifically for a subset of platforms only, this is where the 'Hardware Compatibility Tool' comes into the picture. This tool lists optics that are intended for each platform:
