Description

While Connecting Juniper MX304 to a Nokia 1830 we can see the port down. Juniper is seeing light from the Nokia 1830 and is transmitting light to the Nokia 1830.

Symptoms

The port will remain down, but we can see the light will be transmitting from the port.

Solution

As the optic on the Nokia 1830 has 4 lanes at 25g each and the optic on the Juniper MX304 should be QSFP28-100GBASE-LR4 which will have 4 lanes.

The optics QSFP28-100G-LR1 is not supported and port will remain down
