Description

From day 1 in Junos and Junos EVO, PTP packets are sent via queue 0 (best effort forwarding class by default). Big amount of packets via queue 0 can cause packet drops in this queu. If PTP packets in the queue 0 are dropped due to such overflow, the quality of PTP synchronization degrades.

Solution

For Junos EVO the behavior has been changed from 22.1R2 Junos EVO: PTP packets are sent via queue 3 (network control forwarding class by default) so the risk of PTP packet drops is significantly less.
