Description

Customer had (a time clock) that would not power up when plugged into an EX2300-C. With did a PoE Controller firmware update on the switch and that fixed the problem with the new time clock - it powered up. However, it appears as if the new firmware allocates power differently. After the PoE upgrade - other devices on the switch are not receiving enough power. For example - customer has 8 IP Phones, 1 Wireless Access Point and an existing time clock (different vendor than the new time clock) plugged into the EX2300-C. Before the PoE upgrade - all of these devices powered up fine and work. After the PoE upgrade - the AP is not getting enough power and is constantly rebooting. 

Solution

Consider the following: If a situation arises where there is insufficient power for all the PoE ports, the available power is directed to the higher priority ports. Ports that connect to powered devices such as security cameras and emergency phones should be configured with a higher power priority.

You can increase the poe priority as follow:

set interface ge-0/0/1 priority high telemetries
