Description
Customer may notice that using the RJ-45 console port which is the default active console port doesn't output the same information as the mini-usb port on EX2300 and EX3400 switches.
The document below says that simultaneous console connection (of RJ-45 and mini-USB is supported).
https://www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/hardware/ex3400/topics/topic-map/ex3400-connecting-to-management-device.html#:~:text=On%20EX2300%2C%20EX2300%2DC%2C,active%20at%20the%20same%20time.
Customer may require both console ports available and output whole boot messages at the same time based on their network deployment request. Thus, they configure "console port" as RJ-45 and "auxiliary port" as mini-USB to acheive the goal.
Symptoms
Console output (boot message such as CLI prompt to reset root password) via RJ-45 console port may be truncated while mini-USB console is also connected at the same time, which results customers not able to reset root password via RJ-45 console.
However, boot messages via mini-USB port should be the complete one.
Solution
Engineering team confirmed via a confidential PR that auxiliary port is not available on EX2300 or EX3400 platforms.
In other words, configuration knob “set system ports auxiliary port-type <RJ-45/mini-USB>” will not take effect. Console ports can be RJ-45 or mini-USB type-B but they are exclusive to each other, which means it depend on console ports hardware connections and configuration we get console logs.
