Hard Error alarm is observed on FPC

Symptoms

  • The FPC is offline and not coming up.
  • Hard Errors alarm is observed under "show chassis alarm".

Oct XX XX:XX:XX:XXX XXXX CORE chassisd[1409]: %DAEMON-3-CHASSISD_POWER_CHECK: FPC X not powering up

Oct XX XX:XX:XX:XXX XXXX CORE chassisd[1409]: %DAEMON-5-CHASSISD_SNMP_TRAP7: SNMP trap generated: Fru Failed (jnxFruContentsIndex 7, jnxFruL1Index 16, jnxFruL2Index 0, jnxFruL3Index 0, jnxFruName FPC: EX8200-48T @ X/*/*, jnxFruType 3, jnxFruSlot X)
Solution
Please follow the below steps to recover the FPC :


 


  • Try to soft-restart the FPC using the below command :


(COMMAND: request chassis fpc slot slot-number (offline | online | restart)

  • Try to re-seat the affected FPC.


Please make sure that the FPC module is all clean when we re-insert the module.

  • Insert a known working FPC in the slot, to see if the issue follows with FPC or chassis.


 


Please open a JTAC case to create the RMA for the faulty unit.
