Description

When making configurations using mac-vrf it is possible that the instance does not learn the remote macs accordingly.

Symptoms

The general symptoms if the configuration has been correct in the fabric:

EVPN routes 2 are learned with the desired mac:

root@border_1> show route receive-protocol bgp X.X.X.X table MACVRF.evpn.0 evpn-mac-address Y:Y:Y:Y:Y:Y

MACVRF.evpn.0: 36 destinations, 44 routes (36 active, 0 holddown, 0 hidden)

Prefix Nexthop MED Lclpref AS path

2:1.2.3.4:1::444::Y:Y:Y:Y:Y:Y/304 MAC/IP

* 1.1.3.2 100 I

However the mac VRF does not:

MAC IP flags (S - Static, D - Dynamic, L - Local , R - Remote, Lp - Local Proxy,

Rp - Remote Proxy, K - Kernel, RT - Dest Route, (N)AD - (Not) Advt to remote,

RE - Re-ARP/ND, RO - Router, OV - Override, Ur - Unresolved,

RTS - Dest Route Skipped, RGw - Remote Gateway, FU - Fast Update)

Routing instance : MACVRF101

Bridging domain : vlan444

IP MAC Flags Logical Active

address address Interface source

1.1.1.1 X:X:X:X:X:X SR,K vtep-5.32772 1.222.3.111

Solution

After reviewing the general aspects of the fabric it is found that the error is due to mismatched vrf-targets.
