Description

ACX5448 has a panic reboot abruptly due to heavy disk input/output (I/O) operations . this issue affected all Junos VMhost based platforms

 

Symptoms

We might see a deadlock panic reboot followed by a crash, then expect to see a vmcore file generated due to this issue.

eventd[18637]: SYSTEM_OPERATIONAL: System is operational

kernel: panic: deadlres_td_sleep_q: possible deadlock detected for 0xfffff8000bbb3000 (alarmd tid 100208), blocked for 1801956 ticks

This issue might be seen if the following conditions are met:

* On all Junos VMhost based platforms (QFX10002, QFX10003, PTX1000, PTX3000, PTX5000, PTX10001, PTX10002, PTX10003, PTX10008, PTX10016, MX2008, MX204, MX480, MX960, MX2020, MX2010, MX10003, MX10004, MX10008, MX10016, EX9204, EX9208, EX9214, EX9251, EX9253, ACX5448, ACX6360, SRX5000)
* Heavy disk I/O operations

 

Solution

Workaround: N/A

Permanent solution is to upgrade the Junos to  Junos release that has the fix of PR1735843:
