Description

PoE stops working and when you run the command show poe controller shows device fail in the status.

Symptoms

PoE stops working and the following logs are seen upon further validation:

Based on Juniper documentation this is an indicador of hardware failure:
 

  • DEVICE FAIL—Software download to the controller has failed or the PoE controller is not initialized because of a hardware failure.

Solution

Try the following steps to attempt to recover the PoE controller:

 

  • Power Cycle the affected device
  • If the PoE controller is not recovered afterwards, then create a technical case for Juniper Networks to further assist you and provide the corresponding outputs for investigation to analyze if the replacement is required.
