The Read IO Error (1000) messages represent failure to read a register. This can happen due to multiple reasons including hardware or parity errors which means IO errors on the SSD/HDD that can lead to a system corruption, and the worst-case scenario is that an auto-reboot could take place as a preventive action of the switch to correct the issue then leading to a possible outage. Most of the times these errors are corrected by the switch when it is in the booting sequence so it will run multiple checks such as:

a. Check Blocks and Sizes

b. Check Pathnames

c. Check Connectivity

d. Check Reference Counts

e. Check Cyl groups

So, with the process above we make sure that the switch cleans any corruption (if needed) and make sure hardware issues are not present.

Please reboot the Juniper switch when possible during a maintenance window.

Verify if the log messages are still present on the unit.

If the log messages persists, file system corruption could be present on the unit and format install procedure is required.
If the issue persists, after the format install, contact Juniper since a replacement may be required.
