Description

On EX or QFX series switch, you can see the different output in ppm mode between OSPF BFD and OSPFv3 BFD. This is working as current design and this KB describes this behavior.

Symptoms

On EX or QFX series switch, the distributed ppm is working for OSPF BFD but centralized mode is working for OSPFv3 BFD.
Here is the sample output, FALSE state in distributed indicates centralized mode and TRUE indicates distributed mode.

Solution

EX and QFX series switch do not support distributed ppm for OSPFv3 BFD. Because there is no support to send BFD with ipv6 link-local address from PFE.
