This article describes the issue of the format installation does not remove the virtual chassis from the mixed mode.
EX4300-48T supports the Mixed mode of the virtual chassis. When the mixed mode is enabled, you will see the following output:
root@EX4300-48T> show virtual-chassis Virtual Chassis ID: 0000.0000.0001 Virtual Chassis Mode: Mixed Mstr Mixed Route Neighbor List Member ID Status Serial No Model prio Role Mode Mode ID Interface 0 (FPC 0) Prsnt AAXXXXXXXXXX ex4300-48t 128 Master* Y VC
To initialize the device, you can use the format installation. However, even when the fomat installation is executed, you will notice that it does not remove the virtual chassis from the mixed mode.
This behavior occurs after the format installation is executed to initialize the device and it is expected that the virtual chassis will still be successfully formed. If you use the format installation and want to remove the virtual chassis from the mixed mode, manually disable it as follows:
root@EX4300-48T> request virtual-chassis mode mixed disable fpc0: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mixed Mode: Enabled (Configured mode is Disabled, reboot is required to take effect) root@EX4300-48T> request system reboot Reboot the system ? [yes,no] (no) yes
