Description

The AE interface on MPC5E cards might flap under the following scenario:

  • the router is synchronized with PTP grand master through FPC in one slot.
  • due to some events (e.g. interface to GM went down), the router becomes in synch with PTP GM through another FPC (with the same GM or some other GM).

Symptoms

The AE interface flap for a couple of seconds after PTP synchronization source moved from slot 1 to slot :

%DAEMON-5-CLKSYNCD_OUTPUT: PTP slot changed (1 -> 4), clock class overridden to 248
mib2d[25549]: %DAEMON-4-SNMP_TRAP_LINK_DOWN: ifIndex 954, ifAdminStatus up(1), ifOperStatus down(2), ifName ae12
