Description

On QFX series switch, LED of FAN module doesn't change when inserting FAN with different airflow.

This KB describes this behavior and details.

Symptoms

LED of FAN module on QFX5120-48Y doesn't work when inserting FAN with different air flow.
According to the technical document below, you may think status LED would be changed.

Amber Blinking - The switch has detected an error in the fan module. Either the fan has failed or it is seated incorrectly.

Solution

This is working as design since there is no functionality to change the LED color when detected wrong airflow direction of FAN module.
But in case system detected FAN failure due to hardware defect, or incompletely seated, LED color will be changed as document described.
