Juniper Networks QFX5100 shows log errors for FPCx Unit: 0 port x start error

Symptoms

You will see the following errors on log file messages:

 

Jun 3 18:41:32 switch : %PFE-3: fpc1 Unit: 0 port 5 start error detected

Jun 3 18:41:33 switch : %PFE-3: fpc1 Unit: 0 port 5 start error detected

Jun 3 18:53:07 switch : %PFE-3: fpc1 Unit: 0 port 5 start error detected

Solution

Issue has been tracked on PR1164096 "QFX5100 may log message like: fpc12 Unit: 0 port 47 start error detected" https://prsearch.juniper.net/problemreport/PR1164096.

 

Logs are considered harmless so they can be safely ignored. Perform upgrade to avoid messages.
