Description

EX4300-MP switches POE ports might stop working after POE controller reset.

Symptoms

Observing below log message at the time of issue occurred.
fpc0 poe_get_periodic_status PoE: Controller Reset, label 0 slot 0

Observing POE ports went down automatically and stops working after a POE controller reset.
 

chassisd[17836]: CHASSISD_SNMP_TRAP1: SNMP trap generated: Now Port:ge-0/0/0 is Disabled (pethPsePortDetectionStatus 1)
chassisd[17836]: CHASSISD_SNMP_TRAP1: SNMP trap generated: Now Port:ge-0/0/1 is Disabled (pethPsePortDetectionStatus 1)


No new firmware upgrade is available for POE controller. 

Not seeing any of the below messages except POE controller reset related syslog message at the time of issue occurred.

PoE: PoE module in error state
PoE: Write to PoE controller failed

PoE: poe_restore_factory_defaults failed

Solution

Problem encountered due to a hardware transient issue. 

Bouncing the PoE supported interface
root@switch# set interfaces ge-x/y/z disable
root@switch# commit
root@switch# delete interfaces ge-x/y/z disable
root@switch# commit

Format install the device.
